TO THE INTERAMERICAN COMMISSION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

The Government of the Republic of Nicaragua expresses its most energetic rejection of the press release issued by the Interamerican Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of June 13, 2018, for being slanted, partial and lacking in objectivity, in pointing to the State for deeds it has not committed, lacking in truth.

For the Government of Nicaragua, in accordance with the American Convention on Human Rights, the IACHR has the duty of promoting the observance and defense of human rights; human rights that correspond to all people equally and without distinction as to political or relgious creed.

The Nicaraguan State has reported with evidence to the IACHR about the atrocious crimes, cruel, degrading and inhumane treatment, torture, kidnapping and other acts of violence executed againts the population, and particularly against public officials and people who publicly are known as sandinistas. These violent acts have affected and continue violating the right to life, the right to personal integrity, the right to personal freedom, the right to work and the right to free circulation, among others, also recognized in the American Convention on Human Rights; concerning these acts we warned oN the part of the IACHR a treatment lacking in objectivity, that resulted in the lack of impartiality and neutrality, for which reason the Government of Nicaragua refutes that press release.

The Government of Nicaragua expects that the IACHR would contribute, informing with objectivity and veracity, to stop the violence no matter where it comes from, giving back to the Nicaraguan people peace, stability and security, and the exercise of the right to free circulation, recognizing that the rights of each person are limited by the rights of others, the safety of everyone and the just demands of the common good.
