Pronouncement by organizations representing victims of Ortega Regime

The Sandinista dominated National Assembly elected a “new” Supreme Electoral Council on May 4th, which quickly set the calendar for the electoral process. That calendar required any electoral alliance to register as such by May 13th. The current electoral law only allows political parties to run in elections. The opposition is represented by two large civil society organizations, the Civic Alliance, whose political party is the CxL (Citizens for Liberty), and the National Coalition, whose political party is the PRD (Party for Democratic Restoration). May 13th came and went without the desired unity among the opposition groups, leading to fear that the anti-Sandinista vote will divide again as in 2006 leading to an Ortega victory in spite of representing a minority. The following statement was made by organizations of victims of the repression of the regime.

PRONOUNCEMENT

The organizations of direct victims of the Ortega Murillo regime, born in the grave Human Rights crisis in Nicaragua starting in April 2018, and those of us who continue suffering the cruelest repression of this dictatorship and the police State, in the face of this crucial moment in which we demand the unity of all the truly opposing forces in the country, and in this way be able to get out of the dictatorship, we make this pronouncement demanding that the following be achieved:

  1. Unity of all true opposition forces
  2. Unity to achieve the freedom of all the political prisoners abducted.
  3. Unity to confront and ensure the conditions for a clean, fair and transparent electoral process.
  4. Unity to recover the rule of law in freedom and with guarantees of respect for human integrity which would ensure truth, justice, reparations and non-repetition for the victims.
  5. Unity to overthrow the dictatorship and win democrac

We are disappointed In the face of the denial to contribute to a true opposition unity that could once and for all overthrow the dictatorship, because throughout this time we are the ones who along with our families have borne the heaviest load, suffering bad treatment, humiliation and violence, we are the former political prisoners who continue suffering harassment, threats and repression which does not allow us to continue in peace our process of the search for justice for all the crimes committed against us.

The people ask that you unite, because only united will we win. The moment to demonstrate commitment to Nicaragua is now, and that we are no longer willing to continue living under the dictatorship. Enough with the dictatorship!

Once more we remind the oligarchy protected in the CxL political party, who throughout these months have played at being a factor for the delay of Unity as a true opposition block, ending up being peons who have undermined the efforts desired by all Nicaraguans made in this area. The people are not asleep, and history will condemn you.

There are more than 120 people who are political prisoners who tirelessly and from the dungeons of the regime continue resisting and demanding that they be freed, there are many Nicaraguans in exile awaiting to return to their country; and there are more than 350 families who have grieved over the murder of their relatives. The thirst for justice, freedom and democracy for Nicaragua moves us, and it is because of all the above that we will not rest until They leave! And the dream of April 2018 is fulfilled.

Freedom for the political prisoners!

Justice for the murdered!

Unity for Nicaragua!
